Trolls Finish Season at Roosevelt

The Trolls played at No. 24 Roosevelt University (Chicago, Illinois) in the final game of the regular season.  It was a game of scoring swings with both teams posting runs. After ups and downs in the first half, the Trolls trailed 33-24, at the break. The team fell behind by double digits in the second half, but made a great run to close the gap to the final difference of eight points. In the end they lost 62-54. At 4-16 in the CCAC, the Trolls will not advance to the post-season tournament. They conclude their season with an 8-22 overall record.

Roosevelt opened the game with the first six points, but the Trolls took over the lead when they scored the next 14. The game swung back into the Lakers’ favor when Trinity went scoreless for seven minutes to fall behind at 17-14. The Trolls tied the game at 21-21 with 4:10 left in the half, but scored only three more points in the half to trail 33-24 at the intermission.

The periods of scoring lulls for Trinity continued in the second period as the Trolls added only two points in the opening five minutes and were down by 19 points, 45-26. With seven minutes left the scoring gap was 20 at 59-39. The Trolls refused to give up and went on a 15-to-2 run to pull to within seven points in the final minute.  They ran out of time to completely make up the gap and ended in the eight point loss.

For the game the Trolls shot .313 percent from the floor, .310 percent from the arc, and 1.000 percent from the line. Roosevelt shot .455 percent from the field, .450 percent from the three-point line, and .722 percent from the charity stripe. The Trolls collected 30 rebounds and Roosevelt had 39. Nari Garrett ended the game with a double double of 10 points and 10 rebounds. He also had four blocks. Juozas Balcuinas was the high scorer with 13 points to go with four assists. Caleb Jonkman had 12 points, five rebounds, and, three assists. Christian Cantu ended the game with four steals.
