Trinity Falls to Governors State

Coming off a win earlier in the week, the Trolls could not make it two in a row as they faced No. 24 Governors State University (University Park, Illinois). The largest point spread in the first half of the game was seven points and that was midway through the period.  Each team shot extremely well with the Trolls at .500 percent and the Jaguars at .600 percent.  For the majority of the half Governors State was on top on the scoreboard, but with 6:44 to play a three-pointer by Juozas Balciunas tied the game at 25-25.  Trinity followed with a jumper by Caleb Jonkman to take a brief lead.

In the remaining six minutes of the half the score was tied five more times and the lead changed hands seven times. A trey by Jonkman with 1:26 left gave the Trolls a 39-37 lead, but the Jaguars scored the final five points to take over the top spot at the half at 42-39.

The Trolls could not sustain their first half play and fell to .393 percent shooting in the second half. They scored only six points in the first ten minutes of the period and by that time were down by 17 points. The scoring gap reached 21 with five minutes left and Trinity could not make a dent in that deficit in the remaining time.
