Trolls Challenge Trojans

In a conference match-up on Hall of Fame Weekend the Trolls challenged No. 18 Trinity International University (Deerfield, Illinois) in a conference game. Trinity came out strong, but Trinity International responded and took over the lead. At the half the Trolls were down by 11. The team continued to fight hard in the second half and had the difference two three points multiple times. They could not regain the top spot and ended in a 79-71 loss.

The Trolls jumped to a 12-2 lead in the opening five minutes of the game. That advantage slowly slipped away as the Trojans tied the game at 17-17. Over the next ten minutes Trinity International out-scored the Trolls 15-to-5 to make the scoring difference 10 points. At the half it was an 11 point game at 35-24.

Trinity once again played well in at beginning of the second half and was within three points.  Trinity International surged ahead by double digits, but the Trolls came back and with 10 minutes to play the gap was three again. Trinity continued to stay within a basket or two and with less than two minutes to play was once again within three points at 70-67. In the remaining time the Trojans were solid at the free throw line and the Trolls missed out on their scoring opportunities to create the 79-71 final.

The Trolls shot .509 percent for the game and Trinity International shot .492 percent. Each team made nine three-pointers. The Trojans scored six more points than the Trolls from the line. Trinity had 26 rebounds and Trinity International had 36. The Trolls were led by Jouzas Balciunas with 18 points. Nate Hurt added 14 points, five assists, and six steals. Caleb Jonkman and Nari Garrett each had 10 points.
