Student-Athlete Spotlight: Ben Brinks

Ben Brinks ’18 is in the biggest role of his basketball career this season with the Trinity Christian College Trolls.  As the season is hitting the home stretch, Ben is a major piece in the Trolls’ frontcourt.  The 6’ 8” center has embraced his role off the bench and has become a major factor in the Trolls’ defense.

For the season, Ben is averaging 4.0 rebounds per game, along with one block per contest.  Overall his playing time has doubled from the 2015-16 season and he has been a factor in each contest. Ben had one of the best games of his season in an exhibition contest with NCAA Division I opponent Valparaiso University (IN). He scored 11 points on 5-of-6 shooting in the Trolls’ near upset.  Ben has made a great impact on the men’s basketball program as a whole as he holds himself accountable on the court in games and in practices and strives for excellence in all he does.

While Ben’s on-court performance continues to improve, he has performed at a very high level in the classroom since he stepped foot on Trinity’s campus in 2014. Ben, a mathematics major with minors in both computer science and coaching, holds a 3.894 GPA. He was a candidate for Trinity’s prestigious Founders Scholarship, received 2015-2016 CCAC Scholar Athlete recognition, and was named to the Athletics Department High Honor Roll.
