Trolls Defeat Silver Lake

The Trolls picked up a road win in a non-conference game at Silver Lake College (Manitowoc, Wisconsin). Trinity took control of the game in the first half and had a sizable lead, 44-26, at the intermission. They continued to pull away in the second period for the eventual 73-44 win. The team is now 7-12 for the season.

The Trolls established their lead in the first half behind some accurate shooting. In the period the team connected on .621 percent of their attempts, including six treys in 13 tries. They took over the top spot on the scoreboard and by the half had an 18 point lead.

In the second half the Trolls held Silver Lake to only four field goals and a total of 18 points. Silver Lake scored more points from the free throw line in the half than they did from the floor.  Trinity added another 29 points and took the 29 point win.

For the game Trinity ended with a .537 field goal percentage, a .370 three-point percentage, and a .833 free throw percentage. Silver Lake shot .250 percent from the field, .235 percent from the arc, and .818 percent from the line.  The Trolls were led in scoring by Jordan Perry with 21 points as he was 8-of -12 from the field. Caleb Jonkman scored 18 points, which all come from the three-point line where he was 6-of-7. Also nailing the long range shot was Aaron Johnson at 3-of-5 for nine points. Trey Johnson contributed to the team’s high shooting percentage at 6-of-9 for 12 points.  Christian Cantu ended the game with six rebounds and six assists and Juozas Balciunas added five assists.

The Trolls play next on January 18 at Calumet College of St. Joseph at 7:30 pm.
