Dobrescu, O'Sullivan in front for the Trolls at Purdue-Northwest Invitational

The men’s and women’s cross country teams competed for the second week in a row, this time heading to the Purdue University-Northwest Invitational.

On the men’s side, the team finished in third out of the six teams competing. Andrew Dobrescu led the way, finishing in fourth out of 51 runners with a time of 26:34.9. Following behind him for the Trolls was Brantley VanOverloop and Ryan Mathes. VanOverloop finished in sixth with a time of 26:44.4 while Mathes ran a 27:01.0 to finish in 10th.

For the women, the team finished in second out of four teams. Julie O’Sullivan led the way again for the Trolls, finishing in second out of 46 with a time of 23:48.5. Following behind her and rounding out the top three was Allie Boss and Mikayla VanLaan. Boss finished in third with a time of 24:39.9 while VanLaan ran a 24:52.3 to finish in fifth.

The two teams will be off for the next two weeks and will then head to the Loyola University Invitational on Sept. 28 for their next meet, which will begin at 12 p.m.
