Men's and women's cross country ready for Purdue-Northwest Invite

The Trinity men’s and women’s cross country teams are back in action again this week following fifth place performances at the University of St. Francis Invitational last Friday.

On the women’s side, there were 14 teams they competed against in Joliet. Leading the Trolls was freshman Julie O’Sullivan, who finished in 19th with a time of 19:21. The other top finishers for Trinity were sophomore Allie Boss with a time of 19:41 and senior Mikayla VanLaan with a time of 20:12.

The other two Trolls that placed on the women’s side were freshman Yesica Brown and senior Corrie Jacobi, who ran 20:45 and 20:55, respectively.

Over on the men’s side, 13 teams competed to win the invitational. Senior Brantley VanOverloop was the top contender for the Trolls, finishing in 19th with a time of 15:57. Sophomore Andrew Dobrescu had a time of 16:13 and junior Ryan Mathes had a time of 16:29 to round out the top three for Trinity.

The other two that placed for the Trolls were junior Caleb DeWeerd and freshman Zac Maher, running 16:32 and 17:55, respectively.

Tonight, the Trolls will go to the Purdue University-Northwest Invitational in Westville, Ind., with the meet beginning at 5 p.m.
