Both teams finish in fifth at first meet of the season

The men’s and women’s cross country teams competed in their first meet of the season as they headed to the University of St. Francis Invite. Both the men’s and women’s teams finished in 5th place, with the women’s competition having 13 teams and the men’s having 14.

Leading the way on the women’s side was Julie O’Sullivan. She finished in 19th out of the 154 runners with a time of 19:21. Allie Boss and Mikayla VanLaan were the other top two finishers for the Trolls, running 19:41 and 20:12 respectively.

On the men’s side, Brantley VanOverloop was the top runner for Trinity. He finished in 19th out of 147 runners with a time of 15:57. Andrew Dobrescu and Ryan Mathes were the other top two finishers for the Trolls, running 16:13 and 16:29 respectively.

During this competition, both teams faced many schools that also compete in the CCAC.

The Trolls will be back in action Sept. 6 as they head to the Purdue University-Northwest Invitational held in Westville, Ind. beginning at 5 p.m.
