DeWeerd and Fatham to Compete at NAIA Nationals

The Trolls will have two competitors compete in the 39th Annual NAIA Women’s Cross Country National Championships on November 16 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.  Seniors Megan DeWeerd (Sioux Falls, South Dakota) and Hope Fathman (Hamilton, Michigan) qualified as individual runners at the CCAC Championships.  They will compete in the 5K race with runners from 36 teams and 93 individuals on the Seminole Valley Cross Country Course at 10:30 am.

Megan DeWeerd, who is the school record holder, is making her second national meet appearance. A season ago she finished seventh at the NAIA Championships and earned All-America honors.  For this season her best time is 18:34.

It will be a first national meet appearance for Hope Fathman, who finished in 14th place at the conference meet.  She ran her season and career best time last weekend at the NCCAA National Championships with a 19:40.

The post-race awards ceremony will be video streamed free at approximately 1:30 pm. For the video link and information on the national meet click here.
