Megan DeWeerd Named NCCAA Runner of the Week

Megan DeWeerd (Sioux Falls, South Dakota) continues to perform at a stellar level and pick up weekly honors.  For the week of October 16-21, DeWeerd was named the NCCAA Division I Women’s Cross Country Student-Athlete of the Week.  It is the third time this season she has received this national honor.

DeWeerd was recognized for her performance at the Mount Mercy University Seminole Valley Stampede in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on October 21.  In the field of 279 competitors, DeWeerd finished in second place overall. She logged a time of 17:59 in the 5K race.  She also helped the team to a 10th place finish overall of the 28 schools at the meet.

For the season DeWeerd has placed in the two top in all five of the team’s meets. She tops the NCCAA national cross country stats with the lowest time of the season at 17:34.
