Third Place Finishes for Trolls

It was a pair of third place finishes for the women’s and men’s cross country teams in the Benedictine University Eagle Invite. In the 6K race for the women on the course at St. James Farm Forest Preserve in Warrenville, Illinois, the Trolls grabbed the third place finish of the field of 16 teams behind first and second place results from their top two runners. The men’s team also took third of 16 teams in their 8K race and had three runners in the top 25.

The women’s team made a statement when the first two runners across the finish line were Trolls. Finishing one second apart from each other, Megan DeWeerd and April VanRyn took first and second respectively in the field of 183 runners. DeWeerd’s time of 21:52.7 and VanRyn’s time of 21:53.9 both broke the school record time for the 6K.
