Trolls Deny Robert Morris

The conference schedule started for the Trolls in a game against Robert Morris University (Chicago, Illinois) played at Rt. 66 Stadium in Joliet, Illinois. The first six innings was a pitcher’s battle as the score remained 0-0. The Trolls broke things open in the sixth inning with four runs and maintained that lead for the 4-0 win. The team moves to 9-8 overall and are 1-0 in the CCAC.

Through the first five innings both teams were limited on the base path and the game remained scoreless. The Trolls changed the game in the top of the sixth inning when Will Kulcher opened with a triple to center field.  After two outs Austin Wood and Josh Caceres hit singles to score two runs. Alex Nisle doubled the Trolls’ score when he homered to give the Trolls a 4-0 lead. The team had runners on second and third when their at bat ended.

In the following innings the Trolls allowed only one hit and base runner and struck out four of the final five batters to secure their 4-0 win.

For the game Trinity had eight hits and Robert Morris had three. Chris Baker and Nisle had two hits each. Christian Howell pitched through eight innings with eight strike-outs in the 29 batters face for the win.  

Due to wet field conditions the home double-header with Robert Morris scheduled for March 16 has been moved to March 20 at 1 pm.
