Trolls Take Two Against Lakers

A home double-header against Roosevelt University (Chicago, Illinois) resulted in two wins for the Trolls. In the first game Trinity trailed by a run until they scored in the 5th and 6th innings to get a 2-1 win. The second game was a shut-out victory with a 6-0 final. The team has a 4-0 start to their season.

In the first game the Trolls held the Lakers without a base runner through the first three innings. An error in the 4th inning not only allowed a runner, but a run for Roosevelt.  

Trinity was held scoreless until the 5th inning when a single by Dan Budde drove in the tying run. In the bottom of the 6th Jake Tholl came through with a single to bring in the go-ahead run.  The Trolls held the Lakers in the bottom of the 7th to get the 2-1 win.

In the game Trinity had five hits from five different players and Roosevelt had four.  Richard Yelnick was on the mound for the complete game with seven strike-outs.

In the second game the Trolls took the early lead when they scored two runs on a double by Budde in the 2nd inning. They tacked on one more run in the 3rd and went up 5-0 in the 4th inning on a two-run single by Tholl.

Christian Howell did not give the Lakers any opportunities as he struck out five of the last six batters.  The Trolls loaded the bases in the bottom of the 6th inning and scored one for the 6-0 final.

The Trolls ended the game with 11 hits of which Kyle Kolb had three. Howell threw the complete game shut-out with just two hits. He struck out a total of eight batters.
