Bob Brickman '03 has been the head coach of the men's and women's cross country teams for the past eight seasons and was an assistant coach in the program for one year prior to that. Last season he led the teams to a third place finish on the men’s side and a fourth place for the women’s team at the CCAC Championships. The teams also finished in the top six at the NCCAA National Championships.
In the 2011 season Brickman had three NAIA national qualifiers, giving him a total of 11 during his tenure. In addition he had two athletes earned 2011 NCCAA All-American status. For the past three seasons his teams have also earned scholar team awards.
Brickman earned his bachelor's degree in business at Trinity. As a student-athlete he was a four-year runner in cross country and track and field, served as a team captain, and participated in NCCAA national meets for each sport.
Along with coaching the cross country teams, Brickman is the head coach of the track and field program. In addition he is employed by the security department of the College. He resides with his wife Katie and daughter Autumn in Oak Forest, Illinois.
Assistant Coaches
Diana Brickman ’05, the sister of head coach Bob Brickman, is in her fifth season of assisting the cross country teams. Brickman was a four year student-athlete at Trinity, competing in both cross country and track. As a runner she posted a best time of 19:41.31 in the 5K and ranks eighth in the Trinity records book. She competed in the NCCAA National Meet four times and also qualified for the NAIA National Championship in her senior year.
Brickman graduated from Trinity in 2005 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. She is employed at an educational alternative school. She resides in Oak Forest, Illinois.
Joey Lerner '10 moved from student-athlete to coaching personnel in the 2010 season. He was a four-year member of the cross country and track teams at Trinity. As a senior he posted his best career time in the 8K with a 30:00 at a meet at Illinois State University. In track he was a middle distance runner and holds a school records in the distance medley relay. He earned NCCAA all-American honors for the indoor season and was also a scholar-athlete.
Lerner graduated from Trinity in 2010 with a mathematics education major. He resides in Oak Lawn, Illinois.
