In the second day of the TCC Classic the Trolls suffered a 56-81 loss to Ohio Dominican University (Columbus, OH). The team scored 28 points in each half, while giving up 35 and 46 respectively. Trinity ends the calendar year with a 2-13 overall record.

The scoring margin through most of the first half was within five points. At the midway mark Ohio Dominican went ahead by eight points, but the Trolls quickly cut it back down to one. The Panthers out-scored the Trolls 11-2 in the next five minutes to open the gap to ten points. At the half the Trolls trailed 28-35.

The scoring production got lopsided in the second half as Trinity shot 21.4% and Ohio Dominican was 52.8% accurate. While the Trolls gained more points from the free throw line, the Panthers connected on six three-pointers. The seven-point half-time difference became a double-digit deficit that grew into a 20+ point gap.

Jennifer Brink was the high scorer for the Trolls with 13 points. Tiffany Deckinga added 12 points and Dominique White had 11. Christine Iwema had 12 rebounds and Allison Stoub had eight.

In the other game of the afternoon No. 3 Northwestern College (Orange City, Iowa) defeated Olivet Nazarene University (Bourbonnais, Illinois), 110-89. The Red Raiders built an 18 point half-time lead behind 57.1% shooting. They also controlled the boards, not allowing second chance points.

Northwestern’s sizable lead did not come until the final minutes of the first period when they went ahead by 20 points. They increased their lead by as much as 28 in the second period before the final 21 point difference.

The Trolls will be in action next on Monday, January 4, at Robert Morris University (Chicago, Illinois) at 7 pm.
