Still seeking their first victory of the year, the Trolls did not find it at Goshen University (Goshen, Indiana). The team fell behind early in the game and ended with a 52-69 defeat to give them six losses for the season.
A combination of turning the ball over 16 times, shooting a mere 26.9%, and allowing Goshen to shoot 48.5% created problems for the Trolls in the first half. Seven minutes into the period the team had scored only two points and trailed by 11. They closed that gap to five points at 22-17 with seven minutes to play. However in the final minutes the team scored only one more point while Goshen added 15 to make the half-time score 37-18.
The Trolls improved their field goal percentage in the second half, but could not make a dent in the scoring margin. Although they outscored the Maple Leafs in the period, the closest they got was 14 points midway through the period. In the end the difference was still 17 points.
Trinity ended the game with a .345 field goal percentage and with the advantage on the boards with 45 to Goshen’s 38. Jennifer Brink led the team with 21 points, connecting on five three-pointers. Christine Iwema had 12 rebounds.
The Trolls return home for the next game on Tuesday, November 24, when they host Moody Bible Institute at 5:30 pm.
