After a deadlock through the first 20 minutes, the Trolls could not hang on in the second half at Calumet College of St. Joseph (Whiting, Indiana). Trinity dropped the conference contest, 46-53, to move to 2-6 in the CCAC and 4-22 overall.
The first half of the game was low scoring as each team put only 22 points on the board. The Trolls had the advantage through most of the half, but never were ahead by many points. Throughout the period the score was tied four times, including the 22-22 half-time score.
The Crimson Wave came on strong at the start of the second half and in the first six minutes had built a nine point, 35-26, lead. That margin grew to 11 points, 41-30, with 12 minutes to play. Over the next five minutes Trinity went on a 10-0 run to pull to within one point. However they could not take the top spot and managed only six more points in the final minutes to lose 46-53.
For the game the team shot 40.5 percent from the field and held Calumet-St. Joseph to 32.8 percent. However the Crimson Wave took 20 more shots than the Trolls. Jennifer Brink was the only Troll in double figure scoring with 12 points. Emily Buter ended with 8 points. The rebound leader was Tiffany Deckinga with 9 rebounds. Allison Stoub and Emily Stursma each had four assists.
The Trolls will play next on Febuary 9 at Lincoln Christian College (IL) in a non-conference game at 7 pm.
